My God is sooo Big, so strong and so mighty!

Praise God is not a sufficient enough statement to express my feelings of my awesome Lord and Savior today.... I'm sorry this is so long but sometimes lessons require a few extra paragraphs.

Last night around 5pm Vince and I smelt smoke. We were both in our room and the kids were in the living room. I ran into the kitchen to see if maybe something plastic got left on the stove top and saw smoke pouring out from under the laundry room door. Vince ran in at the same time and we both yelled to the kids to get out.

Simultaneously with our voices the smoke alarms went off.

*** Quick blurb on smoke alarms***** 3 years ago Vince and I went to a Master Guard alarms meeting and felt "suckered" into buying some very expensive smoke alarms that guaranteed to save lives and go off more efficiently than the normal ones installed in homes. We paid them out over the course of 3 years and in October we would have had them for 4 years.

Last night those Master Guard alarms starting chirping loud very quickly. There wasn't much smoke at first. The regular alarms NEVER went off even when the whole house was full of smoke!

Back to the story now ~

I had to open the door because Prissy was in the laundry room in her crate. I immediately saw that the inside of the dryer was on fire. ~Our puppy is fine PTL ~ I turned the air vent on and shut the door again.
I then grabbed the phone and called 911. I'm guessing about 30seconds had passed. A neighbor ran over with a fire extinguisher which Vince tried to use. I had to leave the house because I couldn't breathe there was soooo much smoke. He immediately followed me. The extinguisher worked for a moment but by the time he turned to quit the smoke was so thick he couldn't see in front of him.
It took 3-5 minutes for the fire department to arrive. (Seemed like hours) and they got right to work. All the neighbors came out and were offering to help. As soon as they arrived everything in me relaxed. My kids were safe, my husband, the dog........ the only thing missing was my precious Disney pictures..... HOWEVER, as time progressed a second fire engine showed up....then a third....then a FOURTH! Thats when I began to freak. Even Joshua said, "I only usually see one or two fire trucks at big apartment fires!" I don't know what that was all about but things are okay.

The smoke damage is extensive and I Need/Get (yay) a new washer and dryer. Only a few clothes were lost and there is some damage to the carpet and tile. But did you see....

My children,my husband, my dog, and even my Disney pictures are okay. God was soooo merciful and good to us. My children......my precious little dears did exactly as they were told and as we've practiced. I'm so proud of them.

Lesson learned:

1. We already knew God was mighty and in control but what an awesome feeling to feel his prescence, grace, and love ~ I soooooo need to be in tune with that daily.

2. Master Guard alarms ROCK!

3. Never, ever, ever leave your dryer on when your not home. Nightmares flooded me last night as I do this regularly and the what if's..... I don't think I'll ever run it over night again either.

I love you my dear friends and family. And on this day especially I'm so thankful your a part of my life.

Oh my goodness...that is my biggest fear. I always turn off the dryer or washer when we leave, but it even scares me to run it at night while we're sleeping. God protected y'all, and I'm so grateful for that!
