We had a very blessed Thanksgiving. We spent the day at my mom and dad's in Grand Prairie. Its a long 5min drive 4 exits up the highway. ;-) My sister and her family were able to join us as was my grandmother. We had all your basic Thanksgiving fixins and the Cowboys won!!! We never seem to get pictures of the spread we put out but we did have some fun playing Wii and running around the backyard.

That evening time was spent at Vincent's mom and dad's home. While there the girls got to open their birthday gifts and they were super excited!

On Friday, Vince had to go back to work but the kids and I joined my parents and Laurie and her kids at a mini family reunion for the Bacon side of the family. It was such a wonderful time......
The boys were NOT happy about going. I heard lots of grumbling of "people we don't know...boring...I wanna stay home...."
I of course was excited to see cousins and aunts and uncles I haven't seen in years. But the icing on the cake for me was what conspired right after lunch was served. Two guitars, two players, and a couple of dozen voices harmonizing in Praise to the Lord.

A little background on that..... When I was growing up we always spent Christmas day at my Grannie Bacon's house. I loved her soooo much. She had a very small home with creaky wood floors and homey touches. After lunch was served and the Cowboys game was over the entire family....Grannie,Grandpa, Mom, Dad, 3 Uncles, 3 Aunts, 6 cousins, and maybe a scattering of other guests or family would crowd into her den and sing while my aunts or uncle played the piano. Its my absolute favorite memory of my extended family growing up. Far beyond playing with cousins in the yard or even the delicious homemade chocolate pie with fabulous meringue topping.
Its probably second only to the feeling I get at youth camp surrounded by 300+ people singing "Beulah Land" accapella. Its a feeling of awesome praise and closeness with family. A feeling, I imagine anyway, that I will feel when I'm in heaven praising and worshipping my Lord and Savior time a billion.
Caitlyn and Great Aunt Ruth (my grannie's sister in law) hit it off. She played with Cait and her dolls and couldn't shake Caity off the rest of the day!

Okay, back to reality. It was just FABULOUS. As we left that day my boys excitedly remarked about how FUN it was...playing football with cousins and "mom, mom...the best part was that singing. That was so cool. We knew most of the songs and it was just so pretty.
*Sigh ~ utter bliss
